Standard form with a single branch that is guided upwards in a winding manner.
Features:
1 framework branch
framework branch is led upwards in a twisted manner
fruit wood is grown close to the framework branch
Advice
A horizontal shoot position inhibits the sap flow and therefore growth. Therefore, during the cultivation phase, always give the end of the central branch a position diagonally upwards. To do this, stick a bamboo stick diagonally into the ground and tie the end of the shoot to it. When the shoot has grown a bit, then move the bamboo stick in the ground a bit and tie the shoot again.
The ideal time to ‘lead a shoot around the bend’ is when the shoot comes out about 15 cm past the bend. The reasoning behind this is:
Tying up (too) early is associated with growth retardation.
Tying up (too) late has the disadvantage that the shoot is already lignifying, which makes it less flexible and more difficult to guide into a smooth curve.
