Features of standard tree:

- 2 main branches make a Y shape
- secondary framework branches run approximately parallel to each other
- without a central branch
- fruit wood is grown quite close to the framework branch (if possible)

Opinion
The cultivation and maintenance of this espalier is quite difficult, because vertical parts tend to grow much faster than the horizontal parts. For a sustainable espalier, you should therefore only start growing the vertical parts when the horizontal parts are sufficiently developed. If you grow them too quickly, it will become apparent that the espalier cannot be maintained sustainably.
This espalier form is only suitable for crops that are not very affected by branch calcification, because branch calcification of the Y-shaped central branch is disastrous for the espalier form.
