Category of espalier shapes that resemble a house or piece of furniture.

Features of the espalier form:

  • espalier form often consists of several trees
  • framework branches guided in the shape of a house or piece of furniture
  • espalier construction usually (semi-)permanent in nature
  • fruitwood is grown short on the stem branch

Some forms are historical espalier forms and were already present centuries ago. Example: ‘form Table’. Others belong to the modern espalier forms and are of more recent date. Examples: form ‘House‘, form ‘Chair’.
