Opinion
Recommended espalier. The spiral cord is both productive and ornamental. To get a neat spiral tree you have to train the tree along a concrete wire that is preformed spirally.
Three-dimensional variant of a wave-shaped cord. The spiral must be guided along a pre-formed frame.
The wavy shape naturally restricts the flow of sap. This has two advantages:
- Growth in the head is suppressed.
- Vegetative growth and flower bud formation (fruiting) are evenly distributed along the framework branch.
